Healing on the Streets

Ledbury Estate

What it is

Every Saturday morning, between 11am and 1pm, we set up a stall and offer to pray for people who are passing by. We pray for healing, where they have pain or illness; we also pray for things that are troubling them. We hand out leaflets explaining what we are doing and have activities for any children who come with their parents.

We prepare in the morning by meeting at church to pray and then praying at the location between 10.00am - 11.00am.

Then from 7.30pm every Tuesday evening we have a prayer meeting at church called "Hungry for God." At this meeting we give thanks to God for what has happened that during Healing on the Streets and anything else that has gone on that week.

Where it is

On Peckham Park Road, opposite Northfields House. The location is just off the Old Kent Road, and round the corner from our church.

Testimonies

A man came to the stand with pain in his shoulder and minimal movement. After prayer he was able to raise his arm up and there was hardly any pain.

A team member had been coming along to help for a few weeks by handing out leaflets, but no one had stopped to chat or ask for prayer, although other team members had many chances to pray. Finally a lady stopped towards the end of one evening. When the team member and a friend prayed for her she said that she felt God close to her.

Why we do it

Go and make disciples

Jesus did not say stay and make disciples but go and make disciples. This is part of our going to bless people with the grace of God and meet people where they are at. By going out of the church we have opportunities to meet many more people, telling them and showing them something of what God is like.
