If you are new to the church don’t worry. We love it when people visit to see what goes on, and here are some hints to help you on your first visit.
How long does the service last?
We start the service at 11am, but there are hot drinks and croissants available from 10.30am. The service finishes around 12.45pm.
What happens if I am late?
It will help you to arrive before the service starts, as you can get that coffee and croissant, meet other people, choose where to sit, and have time to settle down before the service. However, if occasionally you don’t make it on time, that isn’t a problem.
What should I wear?
Whatever you are comfortable wearing. Most people dress informally but some from Africa brighten things up with traditional African dress.
Is there car parking?
Yes. You can park outside church on the Old Kent Road on a Sunday morning. But because of the large number of churches locally, parking on the Old Kent Road becomes difficult after 10.30. However you can park for free on commercial Way, Ethnard Road or Green Hundred Road.
Is there disabled access?
Yes, there is a ramp into the ground floor of the church.
What books do you use?
The only book we use is the Bible and there is one on every chair. If there is a Bible reading, we always tell you the page number of the passage we’re looking at. All the words for the songs are projected onto the wall.
What is there for the children?
We have groups for all children between the ages 4 and 15. The children go out to their groups after about 25 minutes, and will rejoin you at the end of the service.
There is a crèche for children under 4, but we ask that children in the crèche be accompanied by a parent.
Yes through the back hall, next to the kitchen. You can ask anyone if you feel lost. Unfortunately we have not yet been able to install a fully-accessible disabled toilet.
After our final song and prayer, everyone starts talking. Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits are available at the back of church. We would love it if you stayed for a chat. If you would like someone to pray with you, there are usually two or three people available. You don’t have to tell them anything specific if you don’t want to, they will pray for God’s blessing in your life. If you do want to tell them anything it will be treated in the strictest confidence.
