Q. What do you like doing in your time off?
Helen: If I have any time off I run in Dulwich Park or watch God.tv.
Hugh: Running and fell running when I can get to the mountains. I also do stuff with the kids and a bit of gardening.
Q. Tell us about your family.
Hugh and Helen: Our children are currently aged 10, 14, 16 and 18, our dog, Suki, is a black Labrador aged 4. Our guinea pigs are called Patches and Charlie Brown.
Q. How long have you been living in Peckham?
Hugh and Helen: We have been living in Peckham 24 years
Q. What led you to Peckham? What keeps you here?
Hugh: Originally, a longing to build a church for local people in the inner city. This has clarified into a call to reach the poor with the love and power of Jesus, and to seek to bring the Kingdom of God to Peckham.
Q. What is the best thing about Peckham?
Helen: Primark!
Hugh: Primark...and the great variety of people from all over the world. There is never a dull moment!
Q. What has been happening in the church over the last fouryears?
Hugh: There has been a move in emphasis from trying to build a church to seeking to bring the values of the Kingdom of God to Peckham. This has resulted in a much greater desire to love the poor and marginalised, a shift in the focus of ministry to healing and deliverance as well as preaching and teaching. and a more active seeking after the presence of God.
