Bring food donations along to Church on Sunday 3 October to donate to the very essential and excellent Southwark Foodbank. Here's a message from them about their Harvest Appeal:
Southwark Foodbank’s Funds and Food 2021 Harvest Festival Appeal
Harvest is a time of community celebration and thanksgiving is approaching. This Harvest, we would like to continue to reach out to those less fortunate through our community spirit of generosity and compassion.
Churches have been instrumental in fostering this community spirit by ensuring during the lockdown that worshippers had access to online services and checking in with the vulnerable so that they were not left feeling isolated. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9.
The demand for the foodbank throughout the pandemic has increased. At the beginning of the lockdown, the government introduced a £20 weekly increase to those claiming Universal Credit. This increase is due to be cut at the end of September 2021. The foodbank will see an increase in uptake for our services as a result.
Your church can help to support the foodbank this Harvest by making a monetary donation or donating a food item listed on our campaign page: https://pecan.enthuse.com/cf/southwark-foodbank-harvest-2021---funds-for-food Donating funds will enable us to purchase items we are most in need of to provide food parcels with all the essentials for a nutritionally balanced diet. The funds will also help to meet the cost of vehicle hire to distribute food to our centres. Feel free to share #southwarkfoodbankharvest2021 on your social media sites.
We hope that you will support our Funds and Food Harvest 2021 Appeal and that we can collaborate to meet the needs of those in the local community who are experiencing food crisis. Please keep Southwark Foodbank and our clients in prayer over these uncertain times. May God continue to bless you.
